Lindegaard Looking For Move Away

After looking closer to securing a first-team place at Manchester United, it looks as if Danish goalkeeper Andres Lindegaard is set for a move away from the club. Lindegaard emerged as a surprise candidate for the first time spot at United. This was largely down to the poor form of David de Gea at the start of his United career. After arriving to Old Trafford for £ 18 million, the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper struggled to settle in the Premier League. Lindegaard, however, proved a stable goalkeeper in the matches in which Sir Alex Ferguson depended upon him.
Last season, he featured only in three matches throughout the campaign. The arrival of Louis van Gaal appears to do little to improve the situation at United. There have been rumours in the last few weeks that he was unhappy at the club. His agent, Michael Stensgaard, has said that Lindegaard is least pleased with his situation at the club. Rather than continue playing as the number two goalkeeper at a big club, Lindegaard may jump at the opportunity of being a regular first choice goalkeeper at a slightly smaller club. Due to his performances whenever called on, Lindegaard is unlikely to face issues with regard to finding a new club.
“We’ve had a very good dialogue with Man United and we talked about the prospect of [Anders] getting the chance to play and, obviously with De Gea [there], the prospect that Anders should go out and find a club where he should play. We sort of agreed that we could look into opportunities. So it’s not that United are kicking him out or anything. It’s a very constructive dialogue on how the future should look. Then in good co-operation we agreed that we would look into the opportunities,” said Lindegaard’s agent.
