MOVING AWAY

Anders Lindegaard is believed to have started thinking about a move away from Old Trafford. The Danish goalkeeper who had joined Manchester United 3 years back after leaving Aalesund FK has not played even a single Premier League match for the Red Devils in the ongoing season.

In the last season, Lindegaard had been given 10 playing opportunities in the Premier League and he had not let his team down in any of those games. He had clearly been in better form than United’s first choice goalie David de Gea and he was expected to play some games in the ongoing season too. But, the new United boss David Moyes has shown his faith in young de Gea so far and that has forced Lindegaard to start thinking about an away move.

Quite a few Serie A clubs including AC Milan and Juventus are believed to have their eyes on Lindegaard.

When Lindegaard’s agent Michael Stensgaard was asked about AC Milan and Juventus links recently, he had said, “It’s a good thing for a player if he is being linked with top clubs around the world, but, I want to make it clear that these reports are not credible.”

Stensgaard did say that the reports of the big Serie A clubs being interested in Lindegaard are not reliable, but, at the same time, he also didn’t deny the fact that the 29 years old goalie could be making an away move.

Signing for Juventus might not be ideal for Lindegaard as he is not going to be the first choice goalie there. He will be understudy to Gianluigi Buffon. At AC Milan, he might get more playing chances as Christian Abbiati who is the no. 1 shot stopper there is approaching the end of his career.
