Although, Anders Lindegaard is behind David De Gea in the pecking order of the goalkeepers at Manchester United, but, his relationship with his Spanish teammate is quite good. These two guys like each other’s company and discuss a lot about the goalkeeping skills. Lindegaard said that in one of his interviews last week.
Lindegaard who plays for Denmark at international level is yet to make a league appearance for United this season. He has just been tried in a few cup games and despite impressing in those games, he hasn’t been persisted with.
That’s understandable though. The United boss Moyes wants to play his first choice shot stopper regularly to keep him in rhythm, but, Lindegaard has every reason to be a bit annoyed as he had arrived at Old Trafford earlier than De Gea. Still, he finds himself as his understudy, but, according to the 29 years old player, he doesn’t feel like that.
When asked about his relationship with De Gea, Lindegaard said, “David is a terrific bloke and I really like spending time with him. It’s very important for you to help your teammates and we do exactly that here at United. The spirit in the squad is good and enjoyable.”
When asked if everything is alright as far as his fitness is concerned, the Danish international said, “Yes, I am supremely fit at the moment and that’s because I have been putting in some hard yards in training sessions, but, playing matches always helps.”
Lindegaard had got a few league games here and there in the last couple of seasons and he was supposed to get a few opportunities to play in the league in this season too, but, that’s yet to happen so far and considering how important the upcoming matches are for United, the chances of him being tried in place of De Gea are very less.
