Lindegaard Biography

Anders Rozenkrantz Lindegaard is the Danish goalkeeper who plays for Premier League side Manchester United. Despite being relatively young, goalkeeper at just 27, Lindegaard has already made some key appearances during his short career. They have convinced Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson that Lindegaard would be the perfect fit for Manchester United – one of the biggest clubs in the world. Anders Lindegaard started his youth career with hometown Danish club Odense Boldklub in 2001.

He had made his senior debut for the club by 2003. However, he made only six appearances for Odense Boldklub before being transferred to Aalesund in 2009. Between 2003 and 2009, Anders Lindegaard spent two seasons away from Odense Boldklub on loan deals. In 2008, he was signed by Kolding on a loan deal, but made only 10 appearances during the whole season. His second loan spell to Aalesund, though, was extremely successful as the player made just under 26 appearances. He more than convinced Aalesund that he was the perfect fit for the club. They decided to make his signing permanent in 2009.

Anders Lindegaard played for Aalesund only for a year before there was intense speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United. In November 2010, Sir Alex Ferguson reported that Anders Lindegaard was very close to sealing his move to Manchester United, with the fee reported to be in the region of £3.5 million. Finally, his move to Manchester United became official on January 1, 2011. He made his debut for Manchester United almost immediately afterwards. His debut came in the FA Cup fourth round against Southampton. He made his debut at Old Trafford in the match against Crawley Town, in another FA Cup match.

Anders Lindegaard’s first-ever Champions League match was against Benfica on September 2011. In the first six months of his Manchester United career, Anders Lindegaard had made two appearances, although he had not made his Premier League debut. The start of the 2011-12 season, however, was more promising for the youngster who made his Premier League debut against Norwich at Old Trafford. He kept a clean sheet in his debut match and was rewarded with yet another appearance in the match against Sunderland, in which he once again kept a clean sheet.

In the first few months of the season, he had doubled the total number of appearances he managed during the initial six months of his Manchester United career. In terms of the trophies, Anders Lindegaard has had limited success. His first major trophy came at Aalesunds in the form of the Norwegian Football Cup in 2009. Immediately after signing for Manchester United, he managed to get his hands on the FA Community Shield.

Individually, he has been awarded with the Norwegian Goalkeeper Of The Year title in 2010, while he was also voted as the Danish Goalkeeper Of The Year in the same year.

Lindegaard made his debut for the Danish national team in the match against Iceland in 2010. Since then, he has made four appearances for the national team.
