Anders Lindegaard was an unused substitute as Manchester United beat WiganAthletic to win the FA Community Shield, which was the one and only trophy won under the David Moyes era at the Theatre of Dreams.

Moyes was recommended to the Manchester United board by fellow Scotsman Sir Alex Ferguson having managed Everton for several years. In the end, Moyes was not the man to replace Sir Alex Ferguson in the Old Trafford dugout as he struggled to impose himself on the job. In the end, Manchester United sacked Moyes with a few games to go and club legend Ryan Giggs was named theĀ  caretaker manager until the end of the season. Giggs led the Red Devils to two wins, a draw and a loss in four league games at the end of the season. Manchester United turned to Dutchman Louis Van Gaal to replace David Moyes as the Manchester United manager in the summer of 2014.

For the 2013 FA Community Shield, Dutchman Robin Van Persie was theĀ  star of the game after he scored a brace to lead Manchester United to a 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic. Van Persie was the main man at Manchester United at the time as he had just scored the goals to lead the team to the Premier League title during the 2012/13 season. He was partly responsible for Sir Alex Ferguson being able to finish his time at Old Trafford with a league title.

Dutchman Van Persie scored a goal in each half to propel Manchester United to the 2013 FA Community Shield.
