LINDEGAARD BACK AHEAD OF SCHEDULE

Anders Lindegaard is all set to return to the Manchester United first team after it was revealed that he is now ready to undergo training.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper has not played for Manchester United for over a month now after suffering an ankle ligament damage. He was initially expected to be out for up to 6 weeks, but he has handed a major boost to Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson after declaring himself fit for the match against Manchester City.

This is one of the most crucial matches for Manchester United. Any work they have done in the previous weeks so far would become null and void should they lose to Manchester City at the Etihad stadium.

Hence, Sir Alex Ferguson would be extremely delighted to have most of his first-team players fit and ready for this match. Manchester United have suffered a number of injury problems this season. Despite having one of the strongest squads in the division, United have been forced to recall Paul Scholes from retirement.

One area that is not troubling Sir Alex Ferguson of late has been the goalkeeping department. The usually palpable David de Gea has become extremely consistent over the last few weeks, and the return of Anders Lindegaard will only add to the options for Alex Ferguson. However, the latest in-play betting makes Lindegaard the favourite to start in the match against City.

Even though Sir Alex Ferguson will be extremely happy about the return of Anders Lindegaard, he will certainly be concerned about the fitness of Tom Cleverley. The young midfielder was one of the main reasons for Manchester United to not feel the pinch of Paul Scholes’ retirement early in the season.

His injury midway through the season forced Ferguson to bring back Paul Scholes from retirement. He was expected to be back for the Tottenham match, but has played only two matches in just over a month.
