Giggs Could Be Handed Full management

Manchester United appointed Ryan Giggs as the interim manager until the end of the season, while it has been heavily speculated that the 41 year old could be handed the permanent role if he impresses in the four matches of the season. Giggs has been one of the celebrated players at Old Trafford in the last two decades. He also is the only player to have scored in every Premier league season up until now. He has been announced as the interim manager after the club parted company with David Moyes following a very poor season.

Since Giggs has little pressure on him in the remaining four matches, it is expected that he will experiment a little. Meanwhile, the club’s second choice goalkeeper, Anders Lindegaard, says that Giggs is very similar to Barcelona’s Guardiola, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest managers. Despite having no managerial experience, Guardiola was appointed as the successor to Frank Rijkaard several years ago. The stunning move paid rich dividends after Guardiola went on to lift 14 trophies in a period of five years with Barcelona.
Lindegaard says that Giggs could go on and emulate this achievement if he is given the permanent job. Louis van Gaal, though, is the favourite for the permanent job.

“It might sound pretty rash and naive, but, in my opinion, we are dealing with a new Guardiola. What we have seen in the first week has been more than convincing. The similarities with Sir Alex Ferguson are striking and it is evident that Ryan Giggs has learnt from one of history’s most respected football managers. Some would question whether you can go from being a team-mate one day to a manager the next. Normally I would have reservations as well, but, in the case of Giggs, it is different,” said Lindegaard.
